Barcelona is a good city to learn outdoors in: parks, coastline, and streets that reward attention. These courses use that setting to make outdoor teaching and education for sustainability part of ordinary school practice.

Outdoor learning: teaching beyond the classroom
Introductory
How to plan, run and assess learning outside the classroom: safely, with a clear purpose, and in ways a timetable and a head teacher can live with.
Who it is for. Teachers of any subject — outdoor learning is not only for the sciences.
Objectives
- Plan outdoor sessions with real learning aims, not outings with a worksheet
- Manage groups, safety and logistics so the learning stays in front
- Connect outdoor work to your curriculum and your assessment

- Plan an outdoor teaching sequence for your own subject
- Run a session with structure students can follow away from desks
- Handle risk assessment proportionately instead of fearfully

Education for sustainability
All levels
Sustainability treated as a teaching competence rather than a topic: what to teach, how to keep it honest and hopeful at once, and how the school itself becomes part of the lesson.
Who it is for. Teachers and school staff bringing the green transition into subjects and school life.
Objectives
- Build sustainability into the subjects you already teach
- Work with green competences appropriate to each age
- Address the difficult emotions around climate without feeding them or denying them
Learning outcomes
- Map curriculum links between your subject and sustainability
- Teach climate-related content that is neither alarmist nor complacent
- Involve students in the school’s own habits — energy, waste, consumption
- Contribute to whole-school sustainability planning
Barcelona as a classroom: place-based learning
All levels
A week that treats the city as teaching material: how a street, a market or a shoreline becomes a site for learning, and how to build the same approach around the place your school stands in.
Who it is for. Teachers who want a transferable method, with Barcelona as the worked example.
Objectives
- Design learning around real places and what they hold
- Structure observation and inquiry so fieldwork produces knowledge
- Transfer the method from Barcelona to your own town
Learning outcomes
- Design a place-based unit for where you live and teach
- Structure fieldwork so the learning is visible and assessable
- Use local institutions — museums, markets, archives — as partners
- Assess work made outside the classroom fairly
How these courses work
Part of every course happens outside, because outdoor teaching is learned outdoors; what you practise here is what you will run at home.
- FormatClasses run Monday to Friday mornings. You choose 20 or 25 hours a week when you book.
- LanguageEnglish
- GroupGroups are small, usually with participants from several European countries.
- MaterialsCourse materials are handed out on the first day.
- ActivitiesTwo afternoons are given to the week's cultural activities. Both are included in the fee, both are optional, and someone from the team goes with the group.
- CertificateCertificate of attendance, issued on the final day of the course.
- WhereCourses run in two parts of the city: Gràcia, around the office, and Barceloneta by the sea. We confirm which one when you sign up.
Fees and booking
The fee covers the teaching, all course materials and the week's two cultural activities. You arrange travel, accommodation and meals.
You can book through your institution or directly with us. Under Erasmus+ KA1, travel and accommodation come from the grant's own budget lines rather than from the course fee.
There is no deposit, and nothing is payable until the arrangement is agreed in writing.
